SciWriUnited: A regional SciWri groups congress
Leaders of regional science writers groups face many of the same challenges and opportunities in their efforts to develop professional networking and programming for local science writers — while also promoting the communication of science in their communities. At this first-ever "Regional SciWri Groups Congress," we are gathering delegates from regional groups across the United States to discuss what works, analyze what doesn't, and delineate best practices. Delegates will have "floor time" to present a glimpse into their regional group and its nuances, while "committee" breakout discussions will focus on common aspects of regional group management: operations and leadership, funding, member recruitment and engagement, and professional programming. This Congress will ultimately produce ideas, insights, and practical solutions for organizing and managing regional sciwri groups that can be curated into an online resource accessible to the NASW community. So come represent your region — and let us unite in Washington, D.C.
