Science is awesome, exciting, and cool! But it can also be dark, nuanced, tricky, and painful. As science writers, it's our job to share that reality with the world, whether we're promoting the work of a specific institution, or working as members of the press. This panel discussion will focus on both how to ask and respond to questions that get at the tougher aspects of the field that science writers cover. We’ll talk through how we’ve handled real scenarios to give attendees an inside peak at how journalists and PIOs alike think about controversies, risks, and mistakes. Social media hashtag: #HardSciQs
