ScienceWriters2016 will be held at the Omni La Mansión del Rio on the River Walk in San Antonio, Texas.

Please make your travel plans early.
As of September 19, there are still a few rooms left in the Omni block. Certain room types, however, may be sold out. There are very few Kings left. The online system won't tell you this, so if you are searching for a King, and it returns no availability, search again for a Double. Information on an alternate block at the Mokara Hotel & Spa is below.

Please note that while the Mokara is a very short walk across the River Walk to the Omni, there are a few, short flights of stairs between the Mokara and the Omni. It is possible to go the long way around a few blocks via surface streets and avoid these stairs, but this may be less than optimal. If you need to avoid stairs, we suggest you book at the Omni.

Travel

Arriving by air
Nonstop flights to San Antonio International Airport are available from 30 U.S. and international cities, with hundreds of connecting flights. The airport is only 15 minutes from downtown. (Allow more time during heavy traffic.)

There are several ways to get from the airport to the conference hotel. Taxis and shuttles are available 24 hours a day at every airport terminal.

Shuttles are ~$20 one way or ~$36 roundtrip. Shuttle booking details

The Omni does not have an airport shuttle.

Arriving by car

Attendees who are driving to San Antonio or renting a car and staying at the Omni can self-park in the Omni parking structure for ~$35 per night. Several parking garages are nearby and may be used for self-parking.

Arriving by train
The Amtrak station is 1.5 miles from the Omni. Please visit amtrak.com for schedules and price.

Getting around once you're here

Transport will be provided to offsite events and field trips.

For exploring on your own, the Omni is centrally located on the River Walk in downtown San Antonio. There is easy walking access to restaurants, shopping, and cultural institutions, including the Alamo.
