Biogen, a Cambridge-based biotechnology company founded in 1978, focuses on the development of medicines to treat neurological and neurodegenerative conditions, including multiple sclerosis; hemophilia and related hematological conditions, such as sickle cell anemia and beta-thalassemia; and autoimmune, inflammatory, and fibrotic diseases. The company is committed to sustainability — it ranked first in Newsweek's 2015 Green Rankings — and its new headquarters building on Binney Street in Kendall Square is LEED Gold-certified. The company also nurtures STEM education through the Biogen Foundation and its "Adventures in Biotechnology" program for high school students at its Cambridge Community Lab. Participants will tour the headquarters building and meet with leading Biogen researchers.
A bus will leave from the Hyatt Regency Cambridge promptly at 9:00 am to transport participants to Biogen. Alternatively, registered participants can meet the group at 225 Binney St., Cambridge, at 9:15 am.
