Science, tech and environmental topics can be inspirational, depressing or dense as a Finnish bog. But they can also be funny, as anyone who’s ever seen a demo of the patented “bra-that-doubles-as-a-gas-mask” knows. What’s the place of humor and voice in science writing? When do they work and when are they laid on too thick or too cute? How can humor help us build an audience and tap into our readers’ or listeners’ emotions and memory? We can’t promise a good standup routine, but this craft session will explore how to humanize your work, whether through podcasting, blogs or print, and why it matters.
