#SciWriMentoring

Reprising our well-attended #SciWriMentoring sessions from previous years, we will pair undergraduates, graduate students and science writers new to the field with science writers farther along in their careers. Here's some enthusiastic feedback from a diverse group of mentors and mentees.

Our basic premise is that many successful science writers can point to others who influenced them profoundly or changed the trajectory of their careers, often through a brief encounter or a kind gesture which, to the giver, seemed a small thing. Our #SciWriMentoring activity is geared toward engineering some of these moments during a "flash mentoring" session at ScienceWriters2019, with a social media twist. Mentors and mentees are asked to tweet a tidbit from their time together with #SciWriMentoring #SciWriStudent #WhySciWri.

So whether you've been at this for a while, are early in your career or are still a student, come meet your match and join us for an inspiring session aimed at creating connections that could last a lifetime.

MENTORS: To volunteer as a mentor, please sign up here no later than Oct. 10.
