ScienceWriters2019 seeks to be a welcoming and inclusive place for all members of our community.
Please refrain from wearing scented products and please keep the aisles clear.
You’ll notice something new on the name tags this year: attendees were offered the option of sharing pronouns on name tags. Please respect these pronouns, or a choice not to share pronouns, in your conversations and introductions. This link provides some helpful tips.
Most sessions will be held at the Nittany Lion Inn. This historic inn has been retrofitted for mobility access and includes ADA compliant sleeping rooms. If you are staying at the hotel as a guest, be sure to confirm your specific ADA requests directly over the phone. The conference rooms will be spread across two floors, connected with two elevators. View the floor plan here.
A lactation room is available at the Nittany Lion Inn. Inquire at the front desk to receive the key. Please note that the lactation room does not have refrigeration. There are refrigerators in each of the guest rooms. Participants not staying at the hotel can inform the reception desk of the need for refrigeration.
Food will generally be served buffet-style. Potential allergens or sensitive ingredients will be labelled for all items. If you have questions, or need assistance in the buffet line, please ask Nittany Lion Inn staff who be available for questions or can assist you in plating and/or carrying your food.
If you have questions about allergies or accessibility or require specific accommodations, please write workshops@nasw.org prior to the close of registration on October 10. Every effort will be made to accommodate advance requests and provide reasonable accommodations for meeting events; on-site requests cannot be guaranteed. Please contact Tinsley Davis (workshops@nasw.org) with any questions or for more assistance.
