Science writer for hire: A freelancer-editor-PIO meet-and-greet

People attend the ScienceWriters conference to make connections. Editors are looking for freelancers to hire. Freelancers are looking for editors and organizations to work for. PIOs are looking for writers to hire — or new avenues to get the word out about the great science being done at their institution. But making these connections isn't always easy. There are great sessions to attend, old friends to see and other people to meet. If you want to connect with people, this session is for you. "Science writer for hire" is returning to NASW for another fruitful networking session. This year, we are inviting all editors and PIOs who are interested in participating to just show up. No registration needed. Editors and PIOs will hang around the room, easily identifiable by amusing hats labeled with their organization. Writers, stop by and say hello. You don't need to bring a printed pitch or a carefully memorized idea. Just bring yourself and your business cards.

Publications and organizations that have participated in the past include the American Physical Society, brainfacts.org, Chemical & Engineering News, Discover, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Knowable, Lifehacker, NPR, Spectrum, Smithsonian and The Open Notebook.

ScienceWriters is about forming connections and making science journalism flourish. Come out and flourish with us.
