Meet and greet for newcomers and students

Once again in 2019, NASW is offering the popular “Sci-Buddy” informal mentoring meet-up for first-time attendees and students. “Sci-Buddies” are veterans of past NASW conferences who volunteer to introduce newcomers and students to other attendees; help them avoid confusion and anxiety by being a source of information and advice on meeting sessions, networking and other topics; and, in general, help make ScienceWriters2019 the most productive time possible for all.

To kick things off, there will be a short meet-and-greet on Saturday morning, October 26, from 7:00 a.m. - 7:30 a.m. (just before the business meeting), where first-timers, students, and “Sci-Buddies” can get together, share some lively discussion, and meet members of the community. If you’re in one of these groups, please join us!

First-time attendees can also ask for a special ribbon that identifies them as new to the annual conference experience when checking-in to the meeting. Questions during the meeting? Reach out to those with "Ask Me" tags, worn by board members, committee members, and volunteers.
