Please note that the Fairfield and Hampton are a 1.6mi/32 min walk to Kresge and 0.7mi further to the Hyatt. The hotels are near the Lechmere stop on the MBTA Green Line, which can whisk you to the Boston University Central stop (Line B) near the Hyatt or the Park Street station to catch the Red Line to the MIT campus.
In addition, there will be shuttle bus to transport ScienceWriters2015 participants staying at the Fairfield Inn and Hampton Inn to and from the main conference locations. The shuttle will run to and from the main meeting and tour pickup sites beginning Friday evening, Oct. 9., courtesy of the Knight Science Journalism program. We'll share a detailed shuttle schedule as the conference approaches.

Travel
Attendees arriving in Boston on Friday, Oct. 9, after 6:00 pm may wish to proceed directly to MIT Walker Memorial, 142 Memorial Drive, for the Knight Science Journalism Opening Reception, 6:00-9:00 pm. A check-in/registration table will be located at Walker Memorial during the reception, and a holding area will be available for luggage. Walker Memorial is three blocks / 0.3 miles from the Kendall/MIT subway station.
Arriving by Air
Nonstop flights to Boston’s Logan International Airport (BOS) are available from almost 100 U.S. and world cities.
There are several ways to get from Logan Airport to the conference hotel. Taxis are available 24 hours a day at every airport terminal. The 15-minute ride should cost about $30. The Cambridge Hyatt Regency does not have an airport shuttle.
Subway from the airport: take the Silver Line bus to South Station and transfer to the Red Line. Take the Red Line to Park Street and transfer to the Green Line B (Boston College) branch. Disembark at Boston University Central and walk 0.7 miles across the Boston University Bridge to the Hyatt. Alternatively, take the Red Line to Kendall/MIT and walk 1.5 miles. Arriving by Train
Amtrak’s Back Bay Station is located three miles from the Cambridge Hyatt Regency. Amtrak trains terminate at South Station, which is also served by a variety of bus lines.
Arriving by Car

Day-trippers or Boston-area residents who are driving to Cambridge for ScienceWriters2015 may self-park at the Hyatt Regency for $15 per day. Several other commercial lots are available in the Central Square and Kendall Square areas, but they’re more expensive.
Getting Around Once You're Here
Buses will be available Friday evening to transport attendees from the Hyatt Regency Cambridge to Walker Memorial and back. (Attendees with fitness-monitoring devices may want to rack up an extra 1.8 miles, round trip, by strolling along Memorial Drive, with its beautiful views of the Charles River and the Boston skyline.)
On Sunday, October 11, and Monday, October 12, large buses will be available to transport meeting participants between the Hyatt and Kresge Auditorium at MIT from 7:00 am to 8:15 am and from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.
The Hyatt operates a small shuttle bus to the Kendall/MIT subway station every 30 minutes throughout the day, with a stop near Kresge if requested.
The walk from the Hyatt to Kresge is 0.7 miles / 15 minutes.
It's a 1.6-mile / 32 minute walk from the Fairfield to Kresge. Taxis are ~$11.
