Accommodations

ScienceWriters2014 will be held at the Hilton Columbus Downtown.

*September 17 Update: Certain nights at the Hilton and Hyatt may be full. If your desired nights are not available, we have added a third discounted option at the Crowne Plaza, also within walking distance. See details, and book without delay, below. You can also check for cancellations periodically if you prefer the conference hotel or use social media to look for a roommate.

Please make your travel plans early. Our conference occurs during a busy weekend in Columbus. The Columbus Marathon takes place on the morning of Sunday, Oct. 19, with the start and finish line just a few blocks from the headquarters hotel, and it's homecoming weekend on campus. ScienceWriters attendees are very unlikely to find more affordable rooms at Downtown hotels, particularly on Saturday night, Oct. 18.

Other Nearby hotels

The Hilton is in the Short North neighborhood near Downtown, and several hotels are within walking distance. However, ScienceWriters coincides with the Columbus Marathon (Sunday morning), so rooms at other hotels downtown, and better rates in this area, will be difficult to find.

Other hotels within walking distance of the Hilton include:

  • Hampton Inn & Suites Columbus-Downtown
  • Renaissance Columbus Downtown
  • Sheraton Columbus Hotel at Capitol Square

Travel

By air

Nonstop flights to Port Columbus International Airport (CMH) are available from several U.S. cities, including: Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Tampa and Washington, D.C.

The best method of airport transfer to the hotel is via taxi, available 24 hours at the cab stand outside baggage claim. The 15-minute ride should cost about $25. Be sure to clarify that you are going to the Hilton Columbus Downtown on North High Street by the Convention Center. The hotel does not have an airport shuttle.

Additional transportation options from CMH — such as rental cars and limos as well as maps — can be found on the airport website.

By ground

If you drive to the hotel, directions are available here. The Hilton offers two daily parking options: valet ($24) or self parking ($20).

Greyhound provides regular service to Columbus from many destinations. The Downtown Columbus bus station is about 10 blocks from the Hilton. (www.greyhound.com; 800-231-2222)
