Michael Mechanic is a senior editor at Mother Jones. He has an undergraduate degree in biochemistry, a MS in developmental biology, and a Master of Journalism degree from the University of California at Berkeley. He has written for the Industry Standard, the Los Angeles Times, and Wired, among other publications. He also contributed to Mother Jones' Torture Hits Home package, which was a finalist for the 2009 National Magazine Award for public interest.
