Andy Dworkin spent 14 years working as a reporter for The Oregonian, The Dallas Morning News and The Herald-Times (Bloomington, IN). For the last seven of those years, he covered medical research and health at The Oregonian in Portland, earning honors including a Michael DeBakey Journalism Award for coverage of animal research. In 2010, he enrolled in medical school and is in his second year in the M.D. program at Oregon Health & Science University.
